Porthcawl was inspired by the quiet drama and changing atmosphere of the Welsh coastline. Unlike some of my more expressive seascapes, this piece feels softer and more restrained. a landscape held in stillness beneath an unsettled sky.
The muted tones, distant horizon and textured shoreline create a feeling of calm mixed with uncertainty, as though the weather and perhaps the story within the painting is still unfolding.
For me, Porthcawl is more about mood, reflection and the emotional pull of the coast.
