Hydrangea

Hydrangea is an expressive floral study inspired by the shifting light, softness and layered beauty found within blooming hydrangea heads. Painted in rich tones of moss, olive, sage and muted cream, the piece moves between abstraction and nature, allowing texture and atmosphere to take centre stage.

I wanted the painting to feel immersive and calming — almost as though the flowers are emerging through light and shadow. Through loose movement and layered brushwork, Hydrangea captures not only the form of the flower itself, but the mood, depth and quiet elegance it brings to a space.
